  • Give your hair a gentle brush and make sure there are no tangles
  • Sit on a comfortable chair and try resting your elbows on a table allowing your head to fall forward;  placing your hands on either side of your scalp, fingers spread (perfect position for improving circulation by encouraging blood flow to the scalp)
  • Close your eyes as you allow yourself to connect to your breath and relax by establishing gentle rhythmic inhalations and exhalations
  • Drizzle some warm oil onto your scalp and using fingers and thumb pads (not your nails) of both hands apply a firm consistent pressure as you massage your scalp in small circular motions moving from the nape of your neck up to the top of your head;  proceed from the front of the head to the back and to each side
  • Gradually move down the back and sides of your neck, along the occipital area (base of the head) and  along your shoulders to relive  any built up tension
  • Parting small sections of hair keep adding small amounts of oil and continue working over the head scalp and neck as many times as you like; try using ziz-zag movements with the outside edges of the hands
  • keeping your knuckles very close to the scalp, grasp fistfuls of hair at the roots and tug gently from side to side
  • Continue to breathe deeply  allowing your thoughts to come and go
  • Comb through; ensure your hair is completely coated with the oil before wrapping hair up in a thin towel or hair wrap. Leave for at least 30 minutes before washing out or leave overnight for deeper conditioning (put a towel or t-shirt over your pillow case to protect it)
  • Don’t be afraid of using a scalp oil if you have oily hair – this can prevent the over-production of your natural oils, thus reducing the appearance of greasy hair
